I did a Q&A session at Trinity College, Oxford yesterday.  What an amazing place. It made me think about my own school buildings when I was growing up.

For those who say that buildings, particularly school buildings, don’t make much difference to the business of learning, I beg to differ. If you have a great building or buildings, with wonderful facilities and resources and an ambience of learning and creativity then it gives you a massive head start – no two ways about it.  My first primary school had grounds that were green.  My second primary school had tarmac!  (Not even the surface made from old tyres that is used in lots of schools nowadays). Believe me, I noticed – and felt – the difference.
